All New Folding Wooden Camping Chair
The Toby Chair by Timshel Design
The Camping Toby Chair – despite their small stature, these chairs are as comfortable as they are stylish. They’re perfect for dinner around the firepit or relaxing inside a bell tent. The Toby Chair range is made in the UK from sustainably sourced timber. Every single piece is hand cut, drilled & finished to order.
The result is a chair with simple, elegant lines and an ingenious folding design. They are stylish and comfortable, but more than that – they are immensely practical. They fold and stack very neatly for storage and they are sturdy, hardy and will age beautifully. Larch is a great, completely sustainable timber coming from properly managed forests in Europe. The Camping chairs are designed for adults, and though children also love them they are not recommended for use by unsupervised children under the age of 8.
About the Maker
Timshel Design is a family business run by brothers-in-law Chris and Toby. Toby originally adapted the Belizean folk chair design for use on his canal boat but they garnered so much admiration on the towpaths of Yorkshire that he soon found himself taking orders. Making chairs for other people meant he spent a long time honing the design, playing with lengths, proportions and materials to find the right balance of comfort and practicality.

We choose slow growing Northern European Larch for extra durability and protection from the elements. Our Larch chairs are completely untreated and are designed to stay that way; the resins present in the wood provide a completely natural protection from the elements. Our Larch furniture will happily live outside all year. As it ages the wood will honey to a rich colour and eventually, after a year or so fade to a beautiful Scandi silver. In addition, we use stainless steel fixings so that the metal-work will not tarnish when left outside.
